Deep dive

Why observation changes everything.

With permission, Lucy sees how work actually gets done: the layer no enterprise system, survey or consultant interview has ever captured. She uses it to coach you, never to automate your work or replace you.

In short

Lucy runs on the desktop. What she observes (signal) and what is on screen (content) become an understanding of your work (context). Coaching runs on context. The promises about what she captures live on the Trust page.

Same view, different purpose.

Watching someone research a company doesn’t tell you whether they’re preparing for a meeting, vetting a supplier or just learning. That’s why Lucy asks, and your answer always wins.

The privacy pipeline

Signal + Content → Context.

Lucy starts from the least detailed layer and keeps what coaching needs.

Signal

The raw observation: events, app and window context, the rhythm of the work. Facts with no meaning attached yet.

Content

What is actually on screen. The most sensitive layer, with the strictest defaults.

Context

The understanding of what you are doing and what it means. Coaching runs on context.

Content retention

You control screen content retention, set to 7 days by default to improve your coaching, then removed. Your organization will be able to set it to zero once admin controls arrive (under development).

Where processing happens

On Lucy Labs’ secure infrastructure and the trusted AI providers we use, with the AI models that best combine security and quality. We are vendor-, cloud- and model-agnostic, and we name the providers and regions for your deployment.

On-device processing

More processing on your own computer, to enhance privacy, security and your experience. Planned

What it makes possible

One engine, two altitudes.

The same understanding that makes one person’s coaching specific shows leaders, aggregated and only for teams large enough that no one can be singled out, where value is created and which solutions deserve to spread.

For the person

Coaching that fits how you actually work, not a template. Without observation, you get a chatbot without context, not a coach.

For the team

An honest map of the real process: tasks, tools, friction and repeatable patterns.

Why now

Two conditions crossed the threshold together.

Observation at workforce scale

Seeing real work on the desktop became practical and affordable.

AI that reasons about work

Models can now understand what observed work means, in real time.

What Lucy captures and never captures

Questions

Questions about observation

Why does Lucy need to see my work at all?

Because coaching that doesn’t know your work is generic advice. With permission, Lucy sees how work actually gets done, the layer no enterprise system, survey or consultant interview captures, so she can coach you on your real tasks instead of a template. Without observation, you get a chatbot without context, not a coach. What she captures and never captures is listed on the Trust page.

Why does Lucy start from signals rather than screen content?

Because signals often show where the friction is without touching the most sensitive layer. Which apps you use, how you switch between them and the rhythm of the work can reveal a report rebuilt every week or information copied between systems. Screen content is the most sensitive layer, so it has the strictest defaults, and Lucy keeps only what coaching needs.

Can I turn observation off?

Yes: you can pause Lucy at any time. Turning off screen content retention for yourself is planned, and so are admin controls that will let your organization set screen content retention to zero.

Ask Lucy what she can see.

Lucy will happily explain herself, and then ask about your work.
