Planned hiring
Product Manager, Business Intelligence
Lucy is a proactive AI coach from Lucy Labs that lives on your desktop as a cloud-backed app.
Planned hiring. This description explains the work we are preparing to hire for; it is not a confirmed start date or offer.
Shape an early product with visible customer impact and assess whether Lucy's coaching improves work quality and capability. As our Product Manager, Business Intelligence, you will discover how enterprise teams work, identify where they lose time or struggle, and turn those findings into useful, measurable product increments.
The role
Shape an early product with visible customer impact and assess whether Lucy's coaching improves work quality and capability. As our Product Manager, Business Intelligence, you will discover how enterprise teams work, identify where they lose time or struggle, and turn those findings into useful, measurable product increments.
Business Intelligence is the initial focus within our Product Manager individual contributor family. You will work with Travis, who leads Product, and a design and engineering counterpart on a bounded experience from discovery through coaching and measurement. As the product grows, this same family can support Coaching & Learning or Enterprise Experience & Trust assignments.
What you will do
- Study business processes with users and field colleagues: desired results, decisions, handoffs, exceptions, tools and constraints. Rank opportunities by user value, evidence, feasibility and learning potential.
- Translate selected work into clear product examples using Goals, Tasks, Actions, Workflows and Solutions. For example, separate preparing one customer meeting from building a reusable meeting-preparation solution. Make uncertain interpretations and missing evidence visible.
- Define the smallest useful product slice, write acceptance criteria and prioritize a backlog that connects understanding work, recognizing an opportunity, coaching the user and learning from the result.
- Work with design and research on permissioned observation, explanations, correction and interruption controls. Specify what should happen when Lucy misunderstands the user's intent, lacks evidence or should stay quiet.
- Agree outcome measures with Data Science and Behavioral Science. Assess whether coaching improves work quality, capability and useful solution building; interpret engagement alongside these outcomes.
- Bring engineering, science and field evidence into product decisions. Review customer-specific capabilities for reusable value, then scope the hardening and maintenance needed for core product adoption.
- Keep written decisions current, explain tradeoffs and revisit assumptions after real use. Surface dependencies early enough for the team to change scope deliberately.
Your partners and boundaries
You own discovery priorities, product requirements and outcome decisions within the scope delegated by Travis. The UX Researcher owns dedicated research execution; the designer owns interaction design. Knowledge Graph engineers implement semantic models, Applied Scientists develop inference methods, and engineers own technical implementation. Measurement and evaluation specialists supply evidence that you use without overstating its certainty.
Solutions Architects and Customer Success Architects bring field learning; Customer Success Managers add adoption, process and culture context. Customer commitments enter the core backlog through an explicit product decision. This role carries no people-management remit.
What you bring
You can demonstrate how you discovered a difficult customer problem, selected a useful scope, shipped software with a team and changed direction when the evidence called for it. You write clearly enough that designers, engineers and customers can challenge the same assumptions.
Experience with enterprise work, AI or data products is valuable. We look for sound judgment about ambiguous behavior, measurement, user agency and technical tradeoffs. Bring examples of practical discovery, prioritization and delivery; explain what you learned and what you would do differently.
Your first 90 days
Agree an initial customer problem and success criteria with Travis. Build an evidence-backed map of selected work, identify the most important unanswered questions and establish a ranked opportunity backlog. With your counterparts, deliver a testable product slice or prototype, review participant feedback and document the next decision with measurable acceptance criteria.
